I don't seek poetry awards
nor national fame
But as you read my thoughts
will you remember my name?

Will my muse have inspired
you to remove the peel?
Will my thoughts reach you
enough for you to feel?

Laughter, sadness, surprise
will you ponder and think?
Will my feelings shared now
evoke tears as you blink?

If a poem reaches down to
the depths of your soul
If I linger in your heart then
let its meaning take hold

So let not a word now read
like a stone go unturned
Look inside yourself and then
tell me what you've learned?
