A Call for Prayer

A prayer in the hand,
is worth a doctor in the hospital.
So fold the fingers to make a temple,
point it high so it does resemble
a spear stabbing high into heaven.
What is a prayer when there's medical bills?
Just a thought as empty as air.
I truly care when I say I do,
when I say that I will pray for you.
But when a hand is needed,
your resources depleted,
why come to me for help?
Are you a beggar with no support,
are you unfavored by God or a sordid sort,
haven't I given what I'd promised to give?
What need is there to give money to you,
help with earthly matters to see you through,
when prayer is the best that I could do.
What could a doctor do that God couldn't?
God bless and good luck.
