Truly Alone
Staring at the pictures,
Of things that used to be,
My heart really shatters:
All thats left is you and me!
Where did all the years go,
Why did He not want us to know,
That the years would pass in the blink of an eye,
That today my whole family would be just stars in the sky!
I look at you and wonder,
If you have that same empty hole,
The one I hide deep in my heart,
The one that threatens to swallow me whole?
Is that the reason you are slowly committing suicide,
By drinking every single day,
Is that why you are so bitter,
Pushing people away?
I look at my children and grandchildren,
And thank the Lord above,
Although He took so much from me,
He left me so much to love!
My heart still aches to know,
Just you and I remain,
That you choose not to love,
But rather to wallow in your pain.
Someday soon He will need one of us back home,
Nobody knows who it will be,
The other then left truly alone,
Together again only in the pictures left for the world to see...
