[title] => The emptiness approaching

[bodytext] => An emptiness approaches. Two squirrels scuttle through red and yellow leaves, searching. An old hound bays in the distant. There is a slow breath beating at my chest, a frozen moment to reflect. A ceiling fan spins, spins, spins; shadows cast swiftly over a rough terrain, a desert white spreading over tin and plastic. My dogs sleep soundly. I fiddle with a pen as I think. The right speaker on my stereo fizzles mutely. I find myself closing my eyes, swaying forward to the sound. The approaching mountains quicken, find blood, find fire; my fingers tremble, strain and break. I pause. Fireworks. I hear fireworks. I forget the light above me, I watch its shadow pulse. I have blood on my fingers. It's not blood, it's something else. Dirt? I scroll the page back up. I scroll the page back down. I strip my slippers off, drop them heavily. I position myself comfortably on my couch. I pop my neck. I decide to stop writing. I stop.
