road...
To see if she'd have the courage...
To keep going.

Rain crystalizes in her hair.
gathers on her eye lashes...
Soaks her skin...

Mixes with the crimson...
Of her bruises...
And washes away the pain of
abandonement and
unprovoked hatred.

Clouds cover the moon...
Surrealism...
She dances in the moonlight...
Lightning crackles in the distance.

Cars drive by...
Man made illumination...
Trapping her in a photograph...
Kept hidden in the observers mind.

Humming to herself...
A song that reminds her of her mother...
The grass feels refreshing on
her barefoot rain soaken feet.

She thinks about the shadow...
How it comes up behind her...
Pain shoots up her arm...
As she's dragged right out
of the sky.

Eyes open.
Light sensitivity.
Street is glowing under the
warm light of street lamps...
And water refraction.

The long road winds away...
She see's it's brighter...
Right over the horizon...
The shadow comes into view
in the corner of her eye.
Decision...
She walks away from it...
Pick up speed...
Covers her ears to the
sounds of shouting...
Due to tobacco inhale...
The shadow falls behind...
She runs...

She ran to the edge of the road and found...
She had the courage to keep going. [comments] => 2 [counter] => 156 [topic] => 13 [informant] => ForeverAndADay [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 5 [ratings] => 1 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => DarkPoetry )
