Try as I might I can’t let go of the certain doom that plagues the air.
Looking across the blacken sky, something inside me screams.
Unaware of the torture within, mind begins to wander along with the sky.

Daydreaming about a world that will be, I see blank faces of the soulless.
They stare at me as though trying to read my mind for hope.
Can they not see that I too search for a hope though it seems futile?
Can they not see that I too share their fate and will soon be just another blank face?

Coming out the day dream, I gasp for air as the reality of what is to come chokes me.
I see the people in my dream pass me, with bright smiles on their faces.
Tears stream down my face, as I know they do not know about their future.
Confusion appears on their faces as they look at me, trying to find the cause of my sadness.

A sudden flare of anger consumes me, because I am too helpless to change our fate.
Words forbidden to be spoken are at the tip on my tongue, trying to escape.
I inhale those words, because I know they will only bring me more grief.

As I accept what is to be, I say a silent pray that we won’t suffer for long.
That soon, we will see the light at the end of the tunnel or so the cliché says.
That soon we will open our eyes, and finally see where we went wrong.
And that someday we will put this behind us to embrace a brighter and better tomorrow.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
