A bleeding heart confined.
Overgrown paths that no longer cross.
Yet, thoughts of her still weigh heavily on his mind.

A lonely evening stroll down a city sidewalk.
A star filled sky.
He prefers to be alone, of course.
Yet, missing her still spills tears from his eyes.

A young couple, holding hands as they walk and talk.
Memories of happiness that linger in his mind.
Slowly, he makes his way to the seashore.
He hopes to find some peace inside.

A stone skips on the water, from his hand it was tossed.
It sinks beneath the surface, the way his heart sinks inside.
He sits before the vastness of the ocean meeting the stars.
He ponders the cost of of enjoying time alone on a warm summer night.

At home, he wonders why love has left him lost.
As his face warms the pillow, he recalls there is no one at his side.
He drifts off to sleep, realizing the cost
Of being anti-social, anywhere, anytime.

A tender love lost.
A healing heart revived.
A soul that has moved on.
A new love he must find.

Yes, it is time.

Powerfully emotive. It makes my heart ache for his loss of love and enjoyment of life. Well-penned.
