Words are lost in rhymes
Designed to be poetic,
Yet you lose a line's
Rawness in retrospect.

Is the price of poetry
Lost in format,
Or is it lost in complimentary
Reciprocation of tact?

Using these verses
To express myself
Are becoming curses
With each emotion felt.

Nothing I write has been perfect,
And I only wish that I could say
That all the imperfections
Mirror the price I pay

To portray myself truly
Without any hint of beauty. [comments] => 18 [counter] => 499 [topic] => 69 [informant] => Essentially9 [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 50 [ratings] => 14 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => poets )

Ahhh you raise an important question indeed...One we should all probably reflect on a bit. As far as this poem goes, I think you expressed what you meant to quite well...I can agree with a lot of what you've said in this write. I felt the second stanza had the hardest impact...Well put Jen...

I know I have not been around in a while
but you still have a friend in me who thinks
that you are beautiful beyond words and
who loves your poems

This impressed me. It did. I've always liked strength of feeling just like this - not angst as it's usually found, but a force of emotion bespeaking thought; intense introspection and will. It's flowing through this piece. Well done.

I don't beleive there is such a thing as a perfect poem. Perfect is in the eye of the reader. If the writer is looking for their own perfection...good luck..I really don't think that exists either, too many changes and moods in our lives to make perfect a constant.
But I will tell you one thing Jen....in my opinion you are an awsome poet, worthy of praise. Don't ever seel yourself short while raising the bar.

Words written from the heart are always Perfect!!
Perfection is like beauty...it is in the eyes of the beholder...

Well, your poetry is still the same, and I am glad you posted on my
poem so finding yours was faster. This poem definitely reminds
me of the ones we've taken in english here in university. something
that deserves to be comtemplated.

nice work!

We are our own worse critics, are we not? What you consider imperfect could be perfect to someone else and this is a damn good write.

You express your emotions very well and you did it perfectly IMHO. Hmmmm...seems there is a hint of beauty because your writing is very well presented. I've seen a lot of trash on here and certainly this is not....so there is a hint of beauty in the mere fact that you write very well.

Take care....and well....keep something coming. Obviously people enjoy your writing.

Loved it.
