Array ( [sid] => 102044 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Old days [time] => 2005-07-25 14:43:41 [hometext] => To three very special people here on site, I truly hope you know who you are, and I hope you understand. Thankyou for my wings. [bodytext] => I could get lost in the old days,
[In those times before the good old days],
When we were busy learning to fly.

*****

We were but four at the time,
And our wings were new,
Though we had lived a thousand lives,
In the span of the few hours,
That we had at the end of the day.

And in a place where daring battles were fought,
[Both within ourselves and on the page]
We grew, and our wings grew strong.

We were but innocent at the time,
Infants in many ways,
And younger still in many more,
But our childish dreams,
Never really were that childish.

And in a place where magic was in tune,
[The magic worked and friendship bloomed]
We grew and we grew strong.

(We were but people at the time,
Children in almost everything,
Searching for someone else to see,
How hard we worked to get off the ground,
Before we learned how to fly.)

And in a time and place where smiles came,
[Where laughter was felt, more than heard]
I felt us become strong.

[We became more in time,
Others joined and we all grew,
But while we turned into more,
To me, we will always be the four,
Who flew at the end of every day.]

For in a place where imagination dwells,
I found that we could really fly...
And we were strong. [comments] => 14 [counter] => 261 [topic] => 16 [informant] => lostinmyself [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 29 [ratings] => 6 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => FriendshipPoetry )

It's not for me to say ..but I see real growth here .. this is really good! (that sounds like I think your older work wasn't ..i don't mean that at all .. but I've been away for a bit and this seems so much more mature .. God ..I'm putting my foot in it. But really, you seem to have grown as a poet .. please take that as a compliment ?

I don't know who the four of you are or were ... but if this were written about me I would feel so honored. Were you guys the origional members or just friends that joined together ?
I don't suppose it matters. The fact that such friendships can grow and develop here should be an incentive to all of us who read it. Thank you for commenting on my poem. But this just blows mine away !!!!

You know, it's exciting to see my friends continue to improve in their writing - and you've done that here. Done so in the connection between simplicity and grace of words on the one hand and emotion on the other. Your poetry has more and more of this, and it's a true pleasure to read. Keep at it!
