Array ( [sid] => 102811 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => I don'know how to mend a broken heart [time] => 2005-08-06 09:27:28 [hometext] => I wrote this song based on the recent poems I have read so it is only fitting that I dedicate it to you (YDPC) [bodytext] => I happened by your room and you were crying.
You were kneeling on the floor beside your bed.
I could not help but listen to your tidings
as you said the thoughts you had within your head.

You said you did not know how to live anymore
and you wished that you were dead
You said that you had no one to hold you
from the darkness in your head

(CHORUS 2 stanzas)
I don''t know how
to mend a broken heart
All I can do is listen
and try to be your friend

I don''t know how
to make the past come back
when in happy times it seemed
that we lacked nothing
but now all that''s left is a hurt heart

Tears streamed down my face as I listened
You seemed to be some one with lots of friends
I could not tell by the life that you were leading
that you had come so close to your wits end

I wanted to reach out and hold you
and tell you "You''d be fine"
but I knew that I would only add
to the pain you feel inside

(Chorus)
I don''t know how
to mend a broken heart
all I can do is be a friend
who lends a listening ear

I don''t know how
to make the past turn back
to take away the bad you have inside you
from the time when others have hurt your heart

(Bridge/hook)
I can strive
I can give
But I know I too will hurt you
and I hope
when I do
I will change
I can dream
I can love
and build love that will sustain us
to show each other how to overcome our tears

(Chorus)
I don''t know how
to mend a broken heart
all I can do is listen
and try to be your friend

I don''t know how
to make the past come back
when in happy times it seemed
that we lacked nothing
but now all that''s left is a hurt heart

(Repeat Chorus)

I happened upon your room today
I want you to know I listened to your prayer

Are you sure you weren’t standing by MY door? This could have been written about my life. A fantastic poem, can’t wait to hear it on the radio! Keep up the great work!

when you say you don't know how to mend a broken heart ..
I think you must be quite wrong..lol. I don't know what a bridge is .. 'cause I don't write music; can you explain it to me? I'd love to write music. Almost all of my poetry has a tune.. (in my head)
