Array ( [sid] => 10468 [catid] => 1 [aid] => Mick [title] => Time [time] => 2003-01-15 13:00:00 [hometext] => This was an exercise in writing about a subject common to everyone's life, ' time'. These are my thoughts about time's control over mine. [bodytext] => "Clock! Clock!
Hanging on the wall,
Meting out the minutes
As from time they surely fall,....
What is this mystic power
That makes us rush and run?...
By what right you tick so quickly
When you know we're having fun?...
Then... let your hands move slowly
When there's waiting to be done?"
(My small clock keeps a bedside vigil;
Another stately guards my hall;
Though inanimate things of workmanship,
They rule us, one and all.)
"Come now, Familiar Face,...
Tell me what you know;...
Why do I so depend on you
No matter where I go?...
Tick-tock! Tick-tock!...
You silly speechless clock!
The works behind your face and hands
Tick on,... but they won't talk."
"Clock,Clock, Clock!...
Be you fancy, small, or tall,,
I think you represent a power
Important to us all."
Intangible and awesome!...
Its feared and revered,...
Telling you,... compelling you,...
"Tick on, tick on."
Like a soul that flows
Through wind and stars.......
'Till my days on earth ...
Are gone,...........are gone. [comments] => 10 [counter] => 225 [topic] => 48 [informant] => SusieQ [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 15 [ratings] => 3 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => EmotionalPoetry )

Thank you, Oreo, for your warm welcome and encouraging comments. As you know, I'm new here and didn't know my way around the site ...or just what was going on. As I saw your name so frequently, I thought that you were someone who 'took care' of this site! (Ha,ha!) I guess you are doing that, right?
Thanks again. Your new friend, Susie
