that ate into this heart of mine.
Weedy and worn, this empty patch
is now a meadow and feels so fine.

The gnarled limbs and twisted roots
are dying off each day.
The new green growth of tender shoots
is new life on the way.

I hear your voice call from within
as my soul cries out to you;
the strings that pull upon my heart
are in the hands of one so true.

If you will shoot into the dark
the arrows of your heart,
make a target of my chest
so we will never be apart.

Then all the pain that I now feel
will be lost with all that ails,
for sorrow cannot co-exist
in hearts where love prevails.

I would be free to live my life
and all its joys pursue,
for what is there that I should fear
except not being here with you?
