You come blarring and fill the Gulf.
All your ragging winds in a huff.
Already we feel you in Arkansas.
You haven't hit land yet, grandma.

Oh Rita, Rita don't be so mean.
All your distruction is tottally insane.
Calm down ole gal, give us a break.
There's no reason for lives to take.

So much devastation from Katrina.
Now here you come, so meanna.
People can't get out of your path soon enuff.
All your anger jus ain't no bluff.

People from New Orleans are tired
Then here you come spitting wind and fire.
How much can poor souls take?
Your hell bound more devastation to make. [comments] => 12 [counter] => 309 [topic] => 31 [informant] => emystar [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 19 [ratings] => 4 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => StoryPoetry )

I don't think pleading with the hurricane is gonna stop it, but from a get your feelings out this is pretty good.

Yes Emystar - It is just horrid to the the devastation repeated. As if Katrina was not enough. A true apocalyptic devastation with repeat. And the long term consequences beyond our imagination.
Thank you for ringing the bell to wake the snoozing up.
Great write!
Elizabeth

Seems it just went right up the Tx/La state lines. She was not as bad as expected, thank goodness, but she did cause more flooding in NOLA. I wonder what part of "God bless America" he doesn't understand???? Hope this is the end for the Gulf Coast this season, even though the season goes through Nov.30. Maybe the Gulf waters will start cooling off soon and deter them.

Great write,
Rita

Oh yes, terrible. I don't live in hurricane or tornado country. I pray a lot for all those who do, and that they can get out before tragedy happens. I have been watching the day after Rita here, and it will be a month before anyone can go back home, can't imagine it, saw the freeways all backed up, just frightful stuff I viewed, and now the clean up.

Bless all people all over the world, Lord help them to be safe during these crisis, Amen.

Thank you for this write Emy, and I will keep praying for better days, and the safety for all.

Very timely written, with a lot of compassion and empathy expressed. The emotion comes through beautifully in this poem. As usual, wonderful visuals accompany this poem.

Well done, emy

If only storms had ears instead of eyes, but then we would have missed out on this poem.

This is a good write. Storms like this are only natural. How we respond to them determines who we are

emystar,

I love the way you combine such a whimsical style with such a serious subject-matter. It gives the impression that you have the courage to face this disaster no matter what.
Exceptionally well written.

Robert Davidson.
