From my little place in heaven, I see new babes are born. And wanting travels to that place, Ive yet to know the morn.
What would it be to live in skin, All rapped in clothes of clay? And who would I be born unto, On summer, or winters day?
Would I be born next to a sea? On hilly plains and meadows? Or under coastal, cloudy skies, That projects my mortal shadow?
What could I be, a boy or girl? That body, can I choose? Would I be just stuck in it? If its wrong, Ill be confused.
I cant imagine those sensations. My sensations are love and thought. But, oh to know how fire burns, And how the flame is caught.
Within a hand that feels the sting, Then grips it back in pain, Then gives it back to mother earth, To feel her soothing rain.
To live a life of flightless flights, In a body meant for walking. And would that weary, frame I ware, Be meant for someones hawking?
What would my tongue envelop there? What language would I compose? Should I forget that foreign talk, Ill speak my native prose.
To feel the bonds of physical love, Two twining into one. I think I could not stop until, All my days are done.
But to feel the loss of love. That parting I could not bare. So sad it would to be alone, Without no want or ware.
To be an orphan soul in here, And to know youre waiting there. That world would never be the same, With you lost in the air.
Perhaps its better than I am here, To look on with distant sighs. To say Id rather be down there, Would be the greatest lie.
Instead my love, Ill wait right here, Until youre at my side. And I will show you what I see With my own heaven eyes.

I really love this, I think all of the stanzas are stunning, I do however this this one is a little out of place:
What could I be, a boy or girl?
That body, can I choose?
Would I be just stuck in it?
If its wrong, Ill be confused.
The rest of the stanzas are very beautiful, and then this one just seems too 'normal' if you know what I mean.
Other than that, fantastic poem.
Great write,

Really like your work, I am sure everyone has these thoughts, I do too, but you put them in words so well. |
