just a kid herself,
but if you could weigh her heart
you’d find she’s full of wealth.

Your daddy, two years older,
was a bigger man then most;
together they were overfilled
with God’s Holy Ghost.

The doctor – he was nowhere
the nurses made you wait;
they said you were in trouble
and delivered you too late.

They said you’re good for nothing
and they wanted you to die,
but your mommy and your daddy
stood their ground, they had to try.

They wanted you so badly,
their lives they lived for you.
When it came to loving hearts
they had it through and through.

I loved them as much as you
and we hung in together.
They helped me get right with God
so all storms we could weather.

You were only five years old
when I got the call you died.
It tore the heart right from my chest
but I know you’re at God’s side.

You looked so perfect lying there
in your casket like a bed;
and as my tears were pouring out
I bent and kissed your head.

Your mom and dad are happy
you aren’t suffering anymore;
and with God to lead our lives
we’ll see you once again, I’m sure.

I used to wonder why God let
these little babies die;
but soon enough I realized
they create more love than you or I.
