We praise our various gods to be alive
Saluting the stars and stripes as our flag flies
In the sooty smog that was once our spacious skies

Invincible, we ignore the lessons history provides
Yelling silently as the minds of the masses are deranged
I meticulously scribble down these hopes and wishes
And bury this plead to the world for change

I pray for a world where people
Can live without the fear of the nuclear holocaust
Where violent crimes have become extinct
And innocent lives are never lost

I pray for a world that can not define
Terrorism or crimes of hate
Where all governments were tolerant
And didn’t mind if you were gay or straight

Where human rights are respected
Diversity not endured - but celebrated
If the future could produce such a world
My generation would be elated

A world where a child could wake up
And not contemplate if he could eat that day
Where poverty was just an ugly piece of history
Not an issue to cause dismay

A world where war did not exist
Where patriotism was without bloodshed
Where compromise could be reached
Without millions of good people dead

A world where God was a figure of reverence
Not an excuse to hate and slay
AIDS was a paragraph in a history book
A plague of the past vanquishing no more prey

And so I bury this time capsule
Hoping it in the future to be read
But this is but a fool’s dream,
For the world is sure to BAM BOOM POW
Nuke itself dead.

Beautiful expression of a better world. It's sad to think that it'll probably never happen. Keep hoping
