Back When
~~~~~
Back in nineteen sixty-five
The year I came alive
Things sure have changed from today
Children when off to school
Were taught to obey the golden rules
Back when Christianity had a say
Terrorists were afraid to try
To attack a mighty nation by
Destroying freedom at the core
Leaders held their ground
Protecting every city and town
Victory was the only way to keep score
Mommas stayed at home
Daddies never roamed
Love was the glue that kept them strong
Neighbors were family
Peace was all you would see
Forgiveness would fight off any wrongs
The average person understood
That rules were for their own good
And people prayed to God about their sins
But that time was so long ago
Now memories are all we have to show
Of the better times, back then
