I have the ability to feel others
And not just close friends and family,
But EVERYONE who passes me by

I hate being in public places
Because I become a sponge and absorb everything that surrounds me
And unlike what a majority of our population would tell you,
Most people are NOT good, especially in large quantities

A look in their eyes
A jilted body movement
An unkempt facial expression
Are all clues
That any normal person could pick up on if they practiced a little

But it’s their aura I see
And beyond that, I see their soul
Flesh, blood, and bone removed
You see, I don’t just have emotions; I feel them through every inch of my body
That’s not so bad though

What’s bad is how these feelings consume me
And I have no control

Sometimes I wish I could turn everything off and be normal
Or at least not be able to see and then feel the pain in a stranger’s eyes

It leaves me helpless
I can’t fix it
So what good is this knowledge?

I want to be able to take away their pain
