Now colder shades of gray
The smile that once brightened all
Now fades away the day
Eyes so cold, so dark
No longer look in mine
Smiles cruel and vain
From my deadly Valentine

Your voice used to soothe my soul
Now all you say seems wrong
The arms that once kept me here
Now make me wish I were gone
A voice that only scorns
Keeps me from feeling fine
Within the strangling, murderous arms
Of my deadly Valentine

I look away when you look at me
I frown as you smile
I refuse to take comfort in you
Refuse to rest in your arms a while
I'm the one that brings the gloom
You give me your heart, I won't trust you with mine
I'm the one condemning us

Most often when a good relationship turns bad or is broken by some aspect - including death, we seem to seclude ourselves from another one. While tempted to find another, the pain of the first loss was just so hard to bare, we dare not risk it again, thus, isolate ourselves from becoming in love - trusting, someone with our hearts. A very sad but touching write. Hope it all works out.

-Cassy

This was a moving write and I understand why you feel this way. Your deadly valentine I'm sure will always be with you but carry him on with love instead of sorrow. Keep up the beautiful poems.

It takes alot of self awareness to realize that you are pushing someone away because they just can't seem to fill the void. I am betting that now with this awareness it will become easier to allow others in ... in slowly greater incriments.

You allow the reader a peak into your self awareness...and what an incredible look it is.
Great perspective, nice flow, but most of all...it so obviously comes straight from your heart....awsome!
