Sitting in the doctor's office
Waiting for the news
Her Momma and Dad
They looked so sad
And scared for their little girl
So sure she was fine
But bored out of her mind
She looked for her doc
As sure as he could
The doctor walks in
With some terrible facts
But he smiled and touched her hand
And said she still had a fighting chance
With the therapy he had in store
Her Momma weeps
And daddy just frowns
But she was a fighter
Wasn't going to cry

A month later
When she awoke
What a horrible surprise
To find on your pillow
The truth that she couldn't deny
And tears fall down her face
Landing in her long tresses
Still laying on the bed
But the doctor assured her
She still had a fighting chance

Three surgeries later
And a heart break later
She fought and she fought
Will all she could muster
And the doctor showed not a concern
But tears streamed down his face
And onto her casket
As he looks at her face
He whispers her name
And looks away
And he regrets
Being only her doctor
And not her Granddad [comments] => 1 [counter] => 257 [topic] => 32 [informant] => Desolantdreamer [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 4 [ratings] => 1 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => SadPoetry )

Brilliantly sad and meaningful! Full of misery. Cancer is indeed a horrible thing.
