BROWN LEAVES TO ICICLES

Over the bridge and across a frozen pond
I can view the handiwork of Jack's Frost's
magic wand.....
Proud, erect Aspen with yellow leaves,
turned brown.
I can see icicles dripping their rainbows
in crystal gown.

Beneath my snow boots I hear a crisp
and crunch sound,
Dark brown leaves and icicles every where
abound.
A nip on my nose, as my breath fogs the cold air
Turtle neck clings tightly, with fleece
and long-john underwear

Winter makes me feel 10 years younger for
some reason.
The chill in the air gives me a surge like
no other season
Wyoming Winter's can be so invigorating.
A good ole fashioned snow ball fight
reduces ageing.

As the icicles melt, and the brown leaves
disappear,
My anticipation begins to build for another
icy winter next year......
For me, 'twil ne'r be complete 'til I can
once again ski........
Challenging the cold slippery steep slope
just mountain and me!

There is a privacy about it which no other season gives you....
In spring, summer and fall people sort of have an open
season on each other; only in the winter, in the
country, can you have longer, quiet
stretches when you can
savor belonging to
yourself.

Beautiful....absolutely beautiful. I can see winter and I can feel winter in this poem. It reminds me of when I used to think the fog from my breath meant that I was a dragon in secret.

I love this poem...thank you for sharing.

So icy cool it warms my heart, I love the winter too, I feel so content, its a quiet time to gather my thoughts, spend a slowdown time that turns on the lamp of my body mind and soul. Beautiful write. Cool blue marbled skies are here in Oregon, frosted raindrops melting in the clear cyrstal sun, hungry cool winds bring much freshness as nature's peace settles down to gather its energy for the new year to come. Beautiful and peaceful write my dearest friend. Raquel Leah

Beautifully well-penned poem!
Delight in it's beauty reader ! if you can keep warm.!
But oh, if the reader has a Tiara on his/her head like the Popes used to wear - not in gold, but in wool, it is all too human to rouse wishful thinkijg.

The poem is absolutely beautiful!,
great job! - savored finally since the fingers are de-frozen. - and the radiator a bit warm.
KUDOS ConSue!
Love and peace
Elizabeth.
