Hot days are not good for hangovers
her words fill the uncomfortable silence we experience for the first time
I nod because there is nothing else to do
I'm sorry she says
but what she means is that she's sorry about the timing
Yeah I reply
in a way that means I'm sorry too...
about the timing
Things could be worse
I smile at the outrageousness of the comment and its the only time I will smile all day
She hugs me but I have to leave
I have to get out
have to pretend this never happened
which should be easy
because she is leaving in the evening
and it never did happen
It's only make believe I whisper
and she fades from view
