Is that inner self of mine
Indeed, where does the true self abide
Somewhere between the prose and rhyme I hide
I will give you clues and hints to ponder
But the true meaning may wander
There is that sensitive vulnerable side to this senior
That has a shy and rather guarded demeanor
You may read between the lines
Hidden there you may ultimately find
That essence of self not directly exposed
But perhaps a glimpse of presence may unfold
There may be occasions when I'm an openbook
Where those who know me better, know where to look
If you approach me with sincere intentions
I will respond and risk the questions
Perhaps this poem won't divulge my secret
But there will be exposure, albeit infrequent
With this poem I take some risk
However, I cannot control but only offer this [comments] => 4 [counter] => 168 [topic] => 61 [informant] => Willofree [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 18 [ratings] => 4 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => selfstruggles )

Ahhh yes...we're all familiar with this, all too well. Some of us veil ourselves more than others, but we're all guilty to a degree. Camouflage or not, you always express your feelings quite well in your writes, and shed some light on the type of person you are...Keep up the writes, I always enjoy reading your work : )
