...just yesterday
by the light of the moon,
saw a shadowy figure,
thought it was you,
but when I called your name,
it just walked away...

...it was so hard to tell
in the pale moonlight,
I had to know
if I was right,
so I followed,
into the night...

..aw, you wonder,
oh, yes, you wonder,
most times you just wonder,
and,
never know...

...it was a rugged path
along cliffs that were shear...
the empty silence
told me death was near...
I held my breath,
I swallowed my fear...

...how I made it to the bottom
I'll never know...
I was standing on a shore,
only one way to go...
I'd come this far,
**** the undertow...

...aw, you wonder,
oh, yes, you wonder,
most times you just wonder,
and,
never know...

...the path in the sand
led into the sea...
your footprints
were leading me...
while your voice
was whispering, "We..."

...in the sparkling waves
your silhouette,
was standing on the water,
it wasn't even wet...
then a heavenly voice,
started singing to me...

[instrumental interlude]

Well, just about then
I felt a hand on my shoulder...
a Fatherly voice sayin'
if you want to grow older
you best follow me
to dry land...

said, if you want peace
you better let go,
you better relax,
trust the one that knows
exactly what it is
that makes the flowers grow...

...aw, you wonder,
oh, yes, you wonder,
most times you just wonder,
and,
never know...

When I looked back
it was gone,
the sky was pink,
it was the dawn
of a new day
for you and for me...

...aw, you wonder,
oh, yes, you wonder,
most times you just wonder,
and,
never know...
