from the wretched setting day
a word off the lips of a stranger
a name with a face

forgive me my sins, Father
I have never been so weak
forgive me my stubbornness
that I can not slam to my knees
here and now and whisper the things
that I am dying to say
I can not bear your name

and the years have made us strangers
the transgressions and the endless
stubborn hatred
I am not the one to simply hope
and trust in faith to carry me home
could never trust in a love without
a way to measure it’s worth

forgive me,
all this being human
seems to have gotten in the
way
as I pull my dusty bible off the shelf...
cowardice as I just slide right back

...Dri...you are making my eyes hot...I so respect and admire you...I so empathize...ache...

...it's like viewing a vacation photo album with a friend and in surprise finding myself saying over and over, "I've been there!" "I've been there!" "Oh, my gosh, you've been there, too!"...and the conversation continues, "Yuck! The food there was awful!" "I got nothing but lies from them, too!" "There was a roach under my pillow in that motel!" "I trusted them. I believed them. But, when I followed their directions, I got good and lost..." "But, that place was nice. Real nice..."

...an awesome poem by an awesome poet...

...you commented once that you admired that I would expose my pain and weaknesses...you certanly do that, too...that's what I admired about Bob Dylan...he'd rip his shirt open and there was the bullseye right in the middle of his chest...that honesty and perseverance is better than nitro-glycerin for blasting through solid granite...

...good to have you back...really good...
