Would do anything to advance
Her editor called her
And said he would give her the chance

He wanted her to meet
With an elder on the reservation
He wanted her to expose
Him as a fraud without hesitation

She agreed to go and see
And write an exposé
But after speaking with him
Things did not go that way

She found this man to be wise
Beyond even his many years
He taught her so very much
When she left she was in tears

He told her he would always watch
Over her and they were one under the sky
She knew she had to write the truth
For she did not want his belief in her to die

She wrote of his wisdom and strength
And how he healed and cared for the poor
She showed her article to the editor
Who told her to change it or head for the door

She quit that job that day
Some things are more important
She sat to watch the sunset
And pray as he taught her to chant

Then as she looked at the horizon
She saw him standing there
He waved and walked off
Toward the setting sun so fair

As he walked he left the ground
And seemed to rise so very slow
Then to the amazement of her eyes
He became the sacred white buffalo

Oh how I love stories where the main character has integrity, which is so hard to have these days! Also her love for him prompted her to do right.......so unlike so many people today.
This poem was incredible Shari.....teaches, has emotion, integrity and Truths!
Very fine
Warm love
consue

you have a way of getting to my heart, that tightening of the tummy, lump in the throat. I am so glad she was so honest, told the truth, she does not need that job, a woman like her already excelled on her own. oh, how lovely this poem is, another MP raquelLeah
