What I Could Be

Contributed by DesolantDreamer on Saturday, 21st January 2006 @ 10:18:34 AM in AEST
Topic: InspirationalPoems

Im a stranger on the sidewalk
Im a model in a photo-shoot
I am fat
I am small
I am short
I am tall
I am no one
I am me
And this is what Ill always be

You laugh at me
You look down on me
But maybe soon youll learn to see
All that I can be

I am everything
I am nothing
I am a pauper in the street
I am a queen with people knelt down at my feet
I am an actress getting a Grammy
I am a nurse or a nanny
I am all the things I want to be

I am young
I am old
I am warm
I am cold
I am anyone that I choose to be
I am all the things I want to be

You criticize me
You sneer at me
But I hope one day youll start to see
All that I could be

I am a solitary writer
Hiding in my home
I am an archeologist
Studying an ancient tome
I am a teenager
Trying to learn where I roam

You never tried to see me
You never though of who I could be
But Ill go easy on you for it is hard to see
What exactly I could be

I like the "in your face" kind of writing here. Strong and powerful. Great piece. Peace to you, Laura
