Array ( [sid] => 11393 [catid] => 1 [aid] => Mick [title] => Childhood Friend [time] => 2003-01-27 10:00:00 [hometext] => This is a rather cute poem I must admit, which is unlike all my others...but it is good to have some variety. I hope you like. [bodytext] => I’m just a kid, who’s kind of sad
Today I learned I have no Dad
At School we had a special day,
Where Daddy’s come to school to play

They came in bunches, every one
And I watched all day as they had fun
They played with toys, jumped in the sand
And gave the teacher a helping hand

If felt so bad, I was all alone,
I wanted my Mommy to come take me home
All day long, the kids would stare
And ask me why my Dad wasn’t there

My face got red, I let out a sigh
For once in my life I wanted to die
I ran out of the room, and into the hall
And all at once I started to bawl

There was a young boy, he was crying too
So I walked up and said “What’s the matter with you?”
He told me how his Dad wasn’t there,
That his parents divorced, and that life wasn’t fair

I helped the boy up, and my tears disappeared
This boy had experienced the same kind of fear
We walked hand in hand back into the room,
And I knew he’d sit with me tomorrow at noon.
