As a precious firstborn, perfect and new,
Looking out to the amazing world yet to be explored.
Faces smiling down upon me;
Amazed, adoring smiles like they look at the most precious thing in this world,
Or nervous scared smiles like they fear what they see may break in their inexperienced hands.
Looking up and feeling sleepy as the sun spins round and round with the cloud and its rainbow,
Closing my eyes to no longer look out of my temple but to safely dream inside it.

As a watchful sister, still wide eyed and innocent,
Gazing adoringly through the gaps at this new creature.
My old home is now theirs;
The bars I reach through to touch this ugly, beautiful little thing,
The bars I stare through to catch a glimpse of those eyes just like mine.
Feeling something when eyes connect, love begins,
Being wanted when a small finger is grabbed by a tiny hand.

As a loving mother, joyous and in heaven,
Staring down at the angel inside who’s a part of me.
Imagining their future;
A life with love and success ever present year after year;
A life with play; endless hours of fun where happiness reigns over all feelings.
Placing an ancient bear down where it belongs.
Just watching in amazement,
unable to tear my eyes away.

Wow! Very impressive write. Touching on so many emotions....loved how you gave the view from an infant, to the sister, mother and then...."Just watching in amazement, unable to tear my eyes away" Made my eyes tear up. Lovely. Thank you for sharing. Peace, Laura
