Into pure darkness, swallowing
The room
Look to the left
Cold moonlight
Washing over my face
Single spot, silver stained and cold
Glancing at the beam, shivering as I
Step out of bed, to the window,
Staring at a balloon,
High above my window
A cold face staring down,
Watching over me as I sleep
Protecting me with strong arms of cold
It rises higher
Touching the top of a chimney
Flying silently over a quiet neighborhood
Brightening the streets
Eerie glows of white bounce
Off of parked cars
Who look menacingly at stray animals
Tall bushes, catching handfuls of the light
Shorter ones pouting in shadows
A lonely car flying down the road
Turning onto the street as I continue
To stare out of a window but
It may as well be a
Prison
Holding me from the outside,
Holding me from a cold- washed silent world
Keeping me from running
With the stray cats
To prowl in shadows of trees
As silent as the wind
A soft pitter-patter of scuffling shoes
Scraping sidewalk
Running down the street
Free like a bird
Flying over pavement
Soft shadows appear,
Look up at the circle of white
Its light fading
Slowly sinking into a sea of gray
A bigger circle, a basketball of yellow and orange and red
Rises up
Forcing me to turn back, a night gone
But who knows what will happen
The next night,
A bright, cold moon,
To watch antics
Of a person gaining freedom in the darkness
A happy person, dancing in the black and
Waving
To a smiling white face
High above
Blowing kisses to the loving onlooker
A huge grin from ear to ear on its face
As I run and run, gaining freedom from a moon

This has the style of a free write. This is great. I also find comfort in the night.
