[hometext] => I wrote this after a recent visit to a nursing home to see my grandmother
[bodytext] => Enduring Time On her face I see her life story Her eyes reflect only sadness Her hair now gray, once her glory Tired resignation replacing gladness. The children now grown and miles away Widowed, reclusive, feeble and old, Wishing to unshackle her feet of clay Waiting to see Heaven’s gates unfold. This world no longer holds anything new Friends have long since passed as well People who visit are rare and few No longer on earth does her spirit dwell. To be young again is not her dream Her life has been lived full and long The thrill of living has lost it’s gleam Now unable to hear the notes of a song Waiting to take that final breath Life now a void for her haggard heart Desolately welcoming the hand of death And from this world physically depart.
