his blue collar job was sent overseas
leaving behind men and women of all ages
for a foreign place with cheaper wages
if you say your patriotic it's probably a lie
you probably don't pay attention to what you buy
everyone complains about the price of gasoline
but we keep fueling up like are bank accounts aren't lean
we have let integrity slowly slip far away
we see things we like but have nothing to say
there is too much wrong to let sleeping dogs rest
we act like we have lost our right to protest
nobody knows what it is they stand for
it seems like people just don't even care anymore
so you can just roll on over and give up the fight
but not me I won't go quietly into the night
I will always stand for what I know is right [comments] => 4 [counter] => 262 [topic] => 41 [informant] => outlaw_mutiny [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 12 [ratings] => 3 [editpoem] => 0 [associated] => [topicname] => political )

YEAH!!!!!! This is strong my dear! So nice and refreshing to me to read this and see that someone else wants to stand up to all this nonsense going on in our life and world right now.

Oh wow are you ever on target! I could sure tell everyone what companies and stores farm out their products to foreign countries-I am patriotic and do my research. I also know where to not buy my gas etc. It is true how apathetic we've become. We tend to feel the helplessness of the power of one, so we fail to even try anymore. We were shocked over 911 but buy products that support Al-Queda. I miss the 60's where we at least had more backbone. Great poem! Give people a shout ! Rose.

Your thoughts in this poem have been on my mind for quite sometime. Although many people are apathetic I think there are some who do care and make an effort to make a difference in what ever way they can. Given the way the world is today, one can only hope that the difference being made is in a non-violent way. I really liked your poem and thought it was well written.
