You may think you're not a hypocrite
you say he is but" I'm not it"
It's like a mask
that shields any task
that faces you every day
now....
say you're in a car with your boss
he's driving" without a toss"
do you bite your tongue
and say he's doing no wrong
yet put yourself in the same position
and your partners driving [same situation]
You yell and scream
and be real mean
and that mask you had before
is not there anymore
now...
how ...
can we throw this mask away
and be ourselves each day
and try and fix ourselves
and- not be that mask- that dwells
If we were to ask our God
in prayer He will be our rod
to guide us in every aspect
and we will gain respect
for honesty and our strength
to carry God at great length
throughout our weary lives
and never be diguised
to wear that mask around
that will one day wear us down
Hypocrite -we don't want to be
but with God and prayer set it free....

Hypocrite

You may think you're not a hypocrite
you say he is but" I'm not it"
It's like a mask
that shields any task
that faces you every day
now....

I must confess I am the worlds giggest hypocrite!

Everytime I see my son and he tells me what he and his friends got up too it's...

"I never did things like that at your age!"

I only tell him the innocent things about my childhood in case he sees the bad things as cool or "wicked" as they would say now.

But I do have a remedy for this solution!

I tell him...

"I had a ..."friend"... who did such and such and they got in a lot of trouble for it!

Hypocrisy comes in many guises and like yourself I do believe prayer is the answer to our imperfections.

This is a fine poem oni. tells you about our tendencies to be - not necessarily a hypocrite, but tryihg to be somebody else.

Always be oneself is what wishes us to be.
Methings even the frantic drive for "Perfection" is perhaps not so much to be the thing to strive for, but let being "oneself be the perfection.

Great write u have here, yes that word hummm, a deep and meaningful peice of poetry that probes the heart as well as the mind. Nice presentation as always. you are a true treaure to these pages.

Yes, being two faced is not the best way to be. It is good to do wonderful deeds for others. We need not to blow our trumpets to be glorified by man. We need to glorify God. Pretending to be better than our brothers and sisters is not biblical. Matthew 7:1-5; Matthew 6:1-6; Matthew 15:1-9.

The Lord can see through wood, we all need to live as though we live in a glass house, and not try to cover up who we are, or what we do. God despises hypocrites. We are not perfect, we try to be ourselves, and glorify Him only. No, it is not easy, and all anyone can do, plus me, is to try each day to practice daily to be real.
Thank you kindly for this poem. I pray it gets read often.

Soild throughout, however, I think the first stanza would be more appropriate and meaningful if re-written ...you say, "he is, but I'm not", Instead of ....you say he is but "I'm not it ".

The Message is good, whether you are religeous or not.
