Pain we oft try to forget
Pining paths lost in the labrynth
of where we fall and oft neglect

Building walls to protect our cities
from the arrows of pain that oft fly in
mourning the loss of what is built
which is washed away by timeless sands

All that matters is the journey
not the things that came before
except for us to learn the lessons
of what is lost and what is gone

A place within our heart we protect
to never let a hurt come in
but waters seep in through our basements
bringing much fear and much torment

These words may seem a little confusing
until you look between the lines
and find the heart that''s softly hidden
crying lowly in the night

All that matters is the journey
not the things that came before
except for us to learn the lessons
of what is lost and what is gone

I hope that i will learn the lesson
of what is lost and what is gone

Time is flowing and is moving
whether we come with it or not
We start out as ugly ducklings
then we sprout into a swan

One day we wake up as an old one
scars of years upon our face
hoping we can teach the lessons
of what has brought us disgrace

We walk the road that we have made
whether in past or in present
and time allows us brief glory
until the day we go to grave

All that matters is the journey
not the things that came before
except for us to learn the lessons
of what is lost and what is gone

I know that i will learn the lesson
of what is lost and what is gone
