Prejudice, pre-judging
Something we all do
It's the mixture of a million stereotypes
That Individualises Me and You

Look at me and judge me
Do a cursory summing up
My hair dyed, my fag butt
My empty coffee cup

My glasses, my teeth, my hat
The cut and style of my cloth
crosses so many boxes
Before i even open my mouth

My accent, my language, vocabulary
So many more stereotypes for you to see

Before i've made one gesture
Before you hear a word i say
Instinctively you will judge me
And it has to be this way

Moving through society
Surviving as you can
What part has this new person
In my personal masterplan

Will we pass by
With little or no effect
Or will we need to interact
And what do we expect

Expect to get a job done
Expect a turn of phrase
Expectations, be prepared
The part survival instinct plays

Negatives in every stereotype
What percentage includes you
Only living to a stereotype
Makes the stereotype ring true

It's only when negative stereotype
Is all that you can see
That prejudice becomes
Pre-judging - unfairly

Positive prejudice is preference displayed
On likes and dislikes, decisions are made

Somethings are made much harder
By labels given to you
We can all alter stereotype
By the things we say and do

Inexperience is not a sin
Tis a sin to close your mind
Accept your labels, as you give them out
But don't by them be defined.
