Array ( [sid] => 122227 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Please Carry Me Home [time] => 2006-06-24 11:01:16 [hometext] => I visited London recently, and wrote this on my return. There are so many homeless people there, and it was strange to think that when I move down there next year, I'll have a home all ready and waiting. So this is about homelessness, I guess. [bodytext] => The grey buildings glare in this halogen light,
And on this awe inspiring night, everything in my heart,
Becomes illuminated.
Barefoot, tired, and aching, I stumble home,
Head thick behind clear thoughts,
Your features blurring in my minds-eye,
As I long for coffee, warmth and bed.
The day blooming behind me,
Over a patchwork blanket of faces and promises,
How many see the dawn as I do?
The red glow of sunlight, like blood,
Spreading over this city, too young to die,
Too old to be reborn, naïve in her antiquity,
The lights of London flicker off,
As the city is set on fire, daylight breaks,
Beneath my feet roam a fleet of mechanical engines,
The waifs and strays of society pass me by,
I’m lost, like them, but for only a moment in this borderline world,
Between night and day,
Nothing is as it seems, and I pray that my dreams,
Can carry me home. [comments] => 3 [counter] => 201 [topic] => 32 [informant] => Ruby2sdy [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => SadPoetry )

Unfortunately London has many homeless people, and many of them have ran away from sad homes. Sad but strangely a fact of life now. This poem is beautifully written, and shows your feeling for these sad people. bless you. Sue x
