The boy was young
Five six seven
Odds never even
Cowboy and indian
Pierced arrow or gun
Young cowboys always rise
Good boys die
Never a goodbye
No dry eyes
Hide and seek seven six five
Nine ten eleven
Siblings flee
Under bush behind a tree
Five six three
Angels in heaven
A boy flaring hormones
Fifteen sixteen
Seventeen eighteen
A boy child goes
Then girl child too
Families give cheer
Son daughter dear
Families fear
What is truth
For want of a game
Let freedom ring
O'death thy sting
Hymns we sing
Daughter dead son lame
How great thou art
Amazing grace
Many disgrace
Others displaced
I don't want no part
Freedom never free
Sister brother from anywhere
Brave yet scared
The I don't care
Mother father God they plead
I's live my life
Fine car and party be
Wine and beer flow free
Freedom mine do not you see
Iraq boy girls undeserved strife

So good to see you again Dennis - yes, you sat on your pen now for quite a while, to come out with this real lovely and pertinent poem. Oh my thoughts are with the heroes, and their battles, Thanks for giving thought to them.
I have something to complement it. Isn't it strange? :-)

Reading your poems I never know where I'll find myself,
This poem has so much feeling, dreams, tears, reality, fears,
Trying to live in our world takes much courage indeed!
Small children, to grown men, we are all in need.

never stop writing. You have the God given talent of putting your thoughts into such beautiful words. A talent we all wish we had. This poem was more than a poem to me. it touched me on such an emotional level. thank you for your beautiful words. I loved the cowboy and indians idea. You used somthing so simple and evolved it throughout your poem into somthing so deep and involved. As always, a wonderful write.
