~
Sometimes the road of life can be tasking,
Depending on the turns we’ve taken along the way.
The path that seems easiest, straight and paved,
Isn’t always the best direction at the end of the day.
~
Road signs can be misleading and easily misread,
If we haven’t mapped out the journey first.
Even with the best of intentions,
What starts out good can easily turn worse.
~
Like a road trip with no final destination,
We keep driving down this road.
Dropping off and picking up,
All kinds of worldly loads.
~
For a moment, if I could,
I’d like to pull off to the side.
Slow down for a minute,
And enjoy the scenery of the ride.
~
Reflect on the miles traveled,
Plan for the many still ahead.
Ensure I’d be proud of where I’ve traveled,
When this car’s been put to bed.
~
The best part of this journey,
Are the passengers that ride along.
Even the back seat drivers,
Add harmony to the song.

This I love! Gives hope as we all question some of the goings on in this thing we call life. I know I sure have been. Great job.

This is so fantastic Jeff! The rhyme and flow is as wonderful as everthing else you have written, and the message behind the lines is timely, important and classic. Wonderful work!

My life has recently taken off in a direction I wasn't looking for, and it is now so much nicer to look at it as a hairpin turn, thanks to your poem! ;-)

Smiles,
Jennifer
