of the detailed work put into my ship
as I take hold of the wheel
with my hands, I feel
an un-imaginative ride,
for this is the story of my life...
a beautiful ship
of fine craftsmanship,
of a shiny, golden wood, solid
artistically made, and created
for stability, and grace-
It swims upon the oceans waves-
for it is a life long project
creating a life within it-
I am meant to be guided to a visioned land
that God promised me I would have
yet I have been tossed and turned
within my ship, a constant return
to the gritty grainy sand
of the un-stabilized land where I once began
where I must stabilize the base stronger
and indeed, beautify it more-
yet, leaving out the most detailed piece
a constant refining, within me...
The wheel, for it is so finite in its creation
it must be molded and detailed upon
every nick and chip, of much re-edging
for I am being directed through humility
with God at my wheel,
serenity, and inspiration I can feel
with his hands guiding mine,
the ship, together, he and I will define
once it is stable and strong enough
to hold up through raging waves of
every wind, hail, and intensifying smog,
and my ship of faith still sails out,
to the way of a fearless doubt
of much lived life and love,
a ship of faith, still holding up,
surpassing every storm and wind,
it is then, that it becomes a mastered creation.
