And it reminds me so much of you
It stands there tall, and smells so good
And is beautiful to view

Its velvet petals feel so smooth
As they brush against my face
I take the rose and hold it tight
Leaving nothing in its place

And as I start to nurture it
And pull it tight to me
Something makes me realise
It’s not ready to be free

Its thorns, they pierce my fingertips
And blood begins to flow
But it’s only trying to protect itself
Cos it’s trapped, nowhere to go

I show no anger at the rose
And place it back where it should be
I watch in awe as the petals bloom
Becoming full because it’s free

And when its beauty is complete
And its petals fall to share
I’d gently place each precious piece
In a secret place with so much care

But until then I’ll simply wait
Without causing it alarm
And hope someday I can pull it close
And keep it safe from harm

This was my favorite part of this piece. Very strong imagery, and beautiful to boot...
