Array ( [sid] => 125001 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Not My Fault [time] => 2006-08-28 08:01:53 [hometext] => My Entry in a Poetry Challenge for the Dead Poet's Society on Zorpia. inspired by Aesop's fables the two dogs-Children are not to be blamed for the faults of their parents- [bodytext] => Not really a proper story but it does have a moral

The Two Dogs- A man had two dogs: a Hound, trained to assist him in his sports, and a Housedog, taught to watch the house. When he returned home after a day's sport, with the Hound he always gave the Housedog a large share of his spoil. The Hound, feeling much aggrieved at this, reproached his companion, saying, "It is very hard to have all this labor, while you, who do not assist in the chase, luxuriate on the fruits of my exertions." The Housedog replied, "Do not blame me, my friend, but find fault with the master, who has not taught me to labor, but to depend for subsistence on the labor of others."

-Children are not to be blamed for the faults of their parents.-

Not My Fault

I swear all the time
And people think its bad I curse
Yet they know nothing
My dad swears worse

I am wearing that dress
Of which I paid naught
You may think it was hard
But mum told me how to not get caught

I was high last night
It was wrong, I knew
But I love speed
My dad did too

I cut that man
His blood quenched my thirst
I killed that man
But mum did first

It’s not my fault
I did only what I learnt to do
If my parents were your teachers
You would too

Nice read. You know Karla, and this comes from experience, one has to make their own choices, not beat on dead horses. Just a thought. I liked the poem, it was well written, but to me, we blame our upbringing WAY too much, for the things we do today. Compared to my Dad? I'm a looser.
