I am sorry.

My only intention was to become
your friend, and perhaps, a little more.
It is now apparent, that neither were forecasted,
and despite my attempts, we remain separate.

I knew from our first introduction, that somehow we would
speak again, less formally, and more open. And we did, and something
happened, you didnt feel it, but for me, it was an explosion.
From that day a healthy obsession for your presence was born.
I think about you day and night, knowing full well I am the furthest
thing from your mind. Then, on a more regular basis we spoke for hours
with very little to speak about. My imagination was stretched.

Always fearing it would be cut short, I
appreciated the comfort of your voice as you spoke, your lips, as they opened
and closed, your hair, as it waved in the wind, back and forth, your hands, as they playfully touched me.

I asked for your honest opinion and you provided me with contradictions. Your reactions
are often exaggerated. Out of habit, lying intentionally, to provoke more agony, to let me down eventually, unresponsive to contact extended gradually. For that, I offer up my deepest apologizes.

Jyss .. most emotional. I find it somehow sad.
The middle stanza is excruciatingly familiar..

I love the brutal, unabashed honesty in this. It's refreshing.

The title is perfect~

I feel the lick of a lover's pain in this jyss-
but even moreso, the gradual casualty
of such things..

I find the greatest solace and respect in truth..
"Don't let me down easy", as it were;
..just "let me down."

Perhaps what I like most about this little writing treasure, is the contradiction in the title... Of course, no one should ever feel 'obligated' to do anything, least of all love someone, but that is the point you are driving home, and that,
( and some choice wording throughout this open piece ), is what makes it memorable.
