where I lay awake,
only to daydream of your face.
Somehow,
that is just the right rest I need.

Maybe the scientist are right,
with eight hours of sleep before you wake,
but I think daydreams can take its place,
at least for right now,
because dreaming of you is all I need.

Daydreaming is speical and personal,
afterall it contains whatever you contrived,
and is there for you to beckon,
what your heart finds true.

Call me delusional,
or perhaps sleep deprived,
but all I want is one more second,
to smile at you. [comments] => 5 [counter] => 237 [topic] => 2 [informant] => lord_sogi [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 22 [ratings] => 5 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => LovePoetry )

This is quite good for a first attempt - it's honest, and not completely riddled with clichés, which kill much love poetry.

I think it might have lost some steam from the middle of the second stanza through the third; those lines are less essential, and start to rehash what has already been said. But I like the whole first and last stanzas. Perhaps the middle two could be boiled down to one?

Keep writing.

Andrew
