Long past the time when he should have returned~

a young boy came home to find he had none

Just the burned out remains of all he'd ever known~

the loss of which from his journeys begun...

~~

Thrown unceremoniously in a cell~

only to crumple in a drunken heap

A man almost broken by the fortunes~

which through the rest of the night haunted his sleep...

~~~
Called on to do, what she knew she could not~
instead she slipped into the dark shadows of night
Secreting under the folds of her cloak~
the very thing she would save by flight...
~
Leaving his fathers unharvested lands~
to in time become overgrown & rotted
He gathered what of could be made use~
& in his mothers quilt then wrapped & knotted...
~~
Yanked hard to his feet from the arms of sleep~
with no memory that together could be pieced
Foul straw from the cell still stuck to his face~
after dragged out & from his irons released...
~~~

By every little sound was she startled~

praying that undisturbed would remain her charge

Knowing that once outside the castle walls~

she must still make her way down to the barge...

~

This has such a ring of the memeory of many selves...

You write with the rythym if dreams here:

"...Leaving his fathers unharvested lands~

to in time become overgrown & rotted

He gathered what of could be made use~

& in his mothers quilt then wrapped & knotted..."

I feel the middle as the meat of this journey...

On to the next...

Peace
Bra Yang

Peace and hugs,
Laura
