It's 4:21 where I am...stop. I hope the sun shines on each and everyone working out at the 'Y...Please Stop! [bodytext] =>

Upon my demise
pray morbidity compressed
to ah, but a short gasp...

When worms meat ready instead
freeze till rock steady

Then invited just my foes
each issued short handled
splintered wood
sledge hammers

My vid on in the background blasting
telling them all what I really think...
Ending with 'Have At It' and a chuckle
goading each to whack
and smash me up to bits
it's the closest they'll ever get to it...

Then dear loved ones gather to
party drink and collect the remains un-discarded
for the fire to render.
Get that oven stoked
the one I fashioned for this occasion

My will directs each:
she works the bellows
you feed the fire,
y'all sweep to pack
the crate into boxes
hand carved from cedar and ash

The markings engraved
are from the old world
when our only language
was hallucination and vision.
The symbols represent the face of union
'For once we moved as One...'
the dedication
'...to the hope we do so again.'

Then my love
she is charged to go to Madagascar
with my dust in tow
and travel into the deep
seeking a Banyan tree.

She will have mangoes for juice
and poems and songs we shared
waiting to hear the Indri's cry
cue to make a simple mud
and grout between the crooks
down near the roots and
wishing her last good bye
let me simply
rest in paste.

Man you are deep. Everytime I read your work I stop and read again and again. Once again I am at a loss, my mere words do not do your work justice. Whewwwwwww.

Damn man, I loved this. Banyan trees...aren't those some cool looking trees? You took me places as you usually do with your wonderfully vivid writing skills. Thanks man, I appreciate it.
Peace and hugs,
Laura

This, as other of your works I have read, is intrigueing. Each is more than a poem, it is a study. Your diverse knowledge lets you enjoy the obscurity so appearant to you, so hidden to most, and so invigorating to the inquisitive reader. Your reference to the olden language and the banyan tree are not lost.

My dearest friend ,

this was one of the most well-constructed and beautiful "final words" piece I've read in
a very long while. I love that you would invite your 'foes' to "have at it" .. unique and splendid
notion. The last stanza is, to me, the most beautiful. It is indeed serene and comforting,
even amidst death and good-bye.

Incidentally, I was off to visit Hawaii (years ago now), and found myself in the middle of
Lahaina, Maui, downtown and standing in the shade of a very large Banyan tree. Standing
50 feet in the air and extending 200 ft from side to side, it was a very humbling site. The
tree had been brought from India when it was a mere 8 feet tall ..

I can't rightly think of a more peaceful or lovely place to
spend eternal rest, that at the root of one of these magnificent trees ..

Wonderful post!

~Breezy
