Who are you in that strange building...
in that capital city?
Managing our lives...
Imposing your laws on we
of greater character than your own.

Are you leaders?
Shall I think myself lost without you?
Tell me the truth just once....
is it I that needs to be led
or you that needs to lead?
Who truly serves the others needs
in this strange relationship?
Maybe you wish to lead me
into thinking I need you.

Maybe you’re like parasites...
using the faults of the masses
to create a need for yourself.

What is your true purpose?
Do you seek to end our faults
to improve our sorry lot?
Or maintain them.....
to justify your sorry existence?

Have you ever read the book 1984? I'm reading it right now for English, and when I saw the title of your poem, I had to read it. I was like, whoa, that's weird...lol

Good write

I've read it a few times and liked it very much. It what I was thinking of when I wrote Thoughtcrime. Orwell has also written another good one called Animal Farm. There are movies of both stories also. The 1984 movie was bad but the Animal Farm movie was great. You might want to check it out in video places. You'll probably have to ask the clerk though. It started out as a TV movie and then made it's way into vid stores. Never been in the theatres.
Thanks for your comments,
Jim

Thanks for your comments. I'm German by birth, only ancestry. I believe it was my great grandparents that came to this country. Are you from Germany or American with German ancestry like me?
