The man shuts his eyes. Images fade in and out. The clock spins, and time sprouts wings and flies. His life’s movie flashes before him. Then audio kicks in and he hears their voices…voices saying they love him.

Those words are lies he shouts, his face grows grim. His past becomes more vivid and begins to haunt him. The man whispers, “I’ll harden my heart, build a wall, and allow no one in.”

Contently he walks the town but for a few days. Then once again, loneliness sets in. The man goes to bed each night. He tosses right and left, his sleep is light.

Then one day he meets a new woman like never before. She bid him to leave the evil deeds done to him in the past. She begged him to think about them no more!

Her words were sweet, and seemed honest and true. He wants to tell her he loves her too. Those words never really left his mouth. They didn’t come from his heart. For how does real love appear? She could have rehearsed those words in a mirror.

This man gazes, longingly into her face. He seems to look right through her, and back into his past. Should he let go of his love, it could wind up being another waste?

His eyes flicker back and forth. Searching for a sign, to whither or not he should ever love again?

I like the expression in this.. if you truly feel this way (which im not sure) leave the past in the past.. everything happens for a reason. don't let something good slip you by.. sometimes God has other plans for us. if we carry our pasts with us none of us will be happy. never forget your lessons from the past but leave the past with you. everyone deserves a chance until they screw up. great format in this piece though I really liked the wording and the flow though

This poem hit a soft spot in my heart. It is hard crack down the wall of protection and allow someone else to come into your heart. Love is a very tricky thing to accompplish. But don't throw it away entirley, because then the wall will remain tall and you will never experience the joys of love again.

This was really good. I liked how you wrote this and what this was about. I liked how this made me think about myself and how I would ask myself the same question... Great poem..

Take care
Merry Christmas
