My 'Immortal'

Many people wish to be immortal
But i can't understand why
Why would they want to exist forever
and watch as time passes by
I would never wish to be immortal
to exist forever more
Why would i want to live throughout eternity
and watch the demise of all i adore
Immortality means to me
To exist in the heart of the masses
To live forever even after my death
inspiring the actions of generations as time passes
My actions and thoughts live on
in the lives of the future generations
so i live on forever in others
as i am my thoughts and my actions
to be such an immortal
is what i would like to be
but will i be such an immortal
is for us and time to see

I read in these words the longing to know whats behind the the thin veil of life without suffering or embracing alternative methods like cryogenics. Instead I see the good sense to vie for 'immortality' in word, deed and right action:
...Immortality means to me
To exist in the heart of the masses
To live forever even after my death
inspiring the actions of generations as time passes...
