Melts on my mind like no other.

Slipping smoothly into

The pockets of my memory.

And I'll wait till alls asleep,

So the trees have already

Swayed into their slumber.

Even the fireflies are tired of

Their own charades.

And so the night awaits.

A haze of a candle,

A tap on my window,

A surge of excitement.

"I'll meet you in the field" I whisper.

Nice and slow we go,

Careful not to wake a soul.

Not even the wind.

As I follow your flickering light,

Licking at the darkness,

The tall grass mother's our figures

As the moon kisses your eyes,

Just enough to

Make them sparkle.

Out in the open yet so secluded,

Our hearts race from this

Mischievous excursion.

My hand weaves through the grass

In search of yours.

Grasping your warmth,

We connect.

Instantly the earth halted its turn

And shot a dozen

Shooting stars.

Silently.

The warm breeze caresses our lips just

Before they touch.

Then the moon brightens as if

It was saving all its light

Just for this one occasion.

The world vanished,

And even the crickets have called it quits.

Somehow they knew,

That this summer night,

Just this night….

Was meant for me and you.

I feel my ability to express myself compromised by the headily intoxicating swoon I find myself in...hope somebody catches me, lol!!!

EXCELLENT JOB!!!

~MisfitMe

P.S. Sorry to go on...but, I share a very similar memory. Thank you for provoking it to resurface.
