Array ( [sid] => 13296 [catid] => 1 [aid] => Mick [title] => Driving On [time] => 2003-02-25 16:40:00 [hometext] => Sometimes when I just feel like I can’t handle it any more, I hop in my car and just drive and talk with God. In that time period He does wonderful things inside my heart. This is about that.

[bodytext] => Driving on through the rain
Making it past all the pain
Healing waters rush over me
Taking me and setting me free

Falling into your arms of love
Friends have passed and met you above
Not knowing why you chose today
To let this life slip away

Why didn’t you intervene?
I know to you all things are seen
Watching from here below
Time seems to go so slow

The hurts seem to last all night
With the questions a constant fight
Could I have done something more
That time is passed I must close the door

It’s too late to go back and change
The past can’t be rearranged
I must continue on
Driving to the dawn

Driving on through the rain
Making it past all the pain
Healing waters rush over me
Taking me and setting me free

Needing someplace safe to go
Far from home and all alone
Finding strength in God above
His everlasting perfect love

Not always understanding why
Some people fly and others die
My blinded eyes just can’t see
Your perfect plan’s too big for me

Wanting just to hear Your word
Confirmation that prayers are heard
My lack of trust is present here
Displayed in anger and in fear

Looking for a piece of hope
In blindness I search and grope
Hidden emotions I pile in heaps
In weariness my tired soul weeps

Driving on through the rain
Making it past all the pain
Healing waters rush over me
Taking me and setting me free

I don’t know why and I can’t explain
Why we all must go through rain
I don’t know why this road seems so long
And all my answers seem so wrong

I don’t know how to fight this fight
When neither side seems right
I don’t want to do this any more
I’ve used my last and hit the floor

Lying there all alone
Through my memory I will roam
Picking out times of light
When everything seemed alright

So I’ll pick myself up and travel on
Find myself a brand new song
I’ll drive on through this rain
Knowing I have all to gain

Driving on through the rain
Making it past all the pain
Healing waters rush over me
Taking me and setting me free

Washing me clean of everything
Giving me a song to sing
Driving on through the rain
Leaving behind me all that pain

I’m leaving behind me all my pain
Driving on through the rain
With a peace in my heart
One day from this world I'll part

I'm driving on through the rain
To a place with no more pain
Your healing waters made me white
No more battles for me to fight

Driving on through the rain
Making it past all the pain
Healing waters rush over me
Taking me and setting me free

Dear LJ, Don't tell me that you aren't a poet.
In my sight, this is wonderful poetry. I'm anxious to read more of your writing and will do it soon. Bizzy

Dear LJ
I agree you are a very good poet no matter what you say. And this poem is very very very very good. You just take something that everyone is feeling and put it into words. Lolly

LJ,
That was simply amazing..you are more of a poet than you think. Keep your eyes on the prize and run the race like you have never run before.

;)
